Description
A travel case made from some hard light-weight black material (possibly metal) with a hinged lid that closes with metal latches on either side of a latched lock. Metal brackets on all of the corners and reinforcing along all edges - wooden runners along the bottom of the case horizontally. There is a leather strap that clips into loops on the short sides of the box as well as a leather travel tag. Attached to the leather strap is a yellow Canadian Pacific Railway travel tag with a piece of string. Throughout the exterior are various travel labels, mostly torn. On the lid is a white rectangular “Canadian Pacific” label that reads “Nicholas Morant, Special Photographer Canadian Pacific Ltd. care CP Transport” in typed text and “Banff Alta” written in black ink above a scratched out typed “Victoria, B.C.” Also on the lid is a piece of masking tape with “LEICA & FILM & ACCESSORIES” written in blue ink possibly by Nick Morant. The interior is lined with beige fabric and both the main body and the interior of the lid are divided into two equal compartments. In one of the body compartments are wooden slats that most likely sit on supports inside each part to create additional compartments at the bottom of the case, but they are not in place. The compartments in the lid are held closed with small pieces of leather that snap onto the front panels which hinge down on strips of brown fabric tape. Black leather hard-sided travel case with wooden runners along the bottom, brackets for a strap on both short sides, a hard leather/wooden handle on the lid (attached with metal loops), and a hinged lid with three clasps - the centre one of which has a keyhole. The exterior of the case has several torn and scuffed travel labels and stickers, as well as various paper travel tags attached to the lid handle and side brackets with pieces of string. The interior of the case is divided into five separate compartments and is lined in purple velvet - the interior of the lid is also divided into two velvet-lined compartments held closed with hinged doors and leather tabs/snaps. The contents of the case have been divided into six categories:b : camera and alternate lenses. Includes a black and silver Graflex Speed camera with a lens mounted on rails that slides forward and back with soft leather bellows and a viewfinder on top and a leather handle on one side. There are also two alternate regular lenses (one in a blue cardboard box with “SCHNEIDER OPTIK KREUZNACH” embossed in silver on the lid, and the other in a red velvet bag) and an expandable bellows lens with a yellow-tinted lens. Also included is a metal gauge used to determine the camera’s F stop that mounts to the top of the camera, housed in a red box with “LEITZ Germany Entfernungsmesser ‘Fokos’” embossed in gold on the lid. c : flash accessories. Includes two shiny silver lens cones (one of which is housed in a black fabric bag), two different handles - one of which is possibly an extender - housed in separate blue corduroy bags, two bulb mounts that attach the handles to the cones/bulbs (one made of black plastic and the other of black and grey metal) housed in a leopard-print fabric bag, a collection of cords and plugs used to attach the flash to the camera (one of which is housed in a small dark blue velvet bag), and three flashbulbs - two of which are clear but different sizes and the third is blue. d : various filters. Black hard leather carry case with silver corner protectors and tarnished silver buckles and lock. The exterior of the case has remnants of shipping labels (and possibly other stickers) as well as painted red squares (approx. 7.5x6.5 cm) throughout the front and side panels - remnants of some large red label remains on the lid. The side opposite the handle has 2 (two) parallel pieces of wood nailed on horizontally. The handle is wrapped entirely in black electrical tape, leaving the metal hoops exposed - hanging from both metal hoops are the strings and tops of various “CP Rail” shipping tags, as well as a large tag reading “MORANT COLLECTION J-8 ‘Long Takumar Lens for 6x7 work, 600 mm’ 1 of 2” written on it in black ink and attached with a plastic loop.The interior of the case is lined with black paper and contains several pieces of thick white foam along the sides and bottom. Also inside the case is a dual-sided weight that looks homemade, possibly filled with sand, as well as a purple Crown Royal bag containing several small pieces of photography equipment and tools. The exterior of the case has a collection of travel stickers and labels, mostly worn and torn - some still legible are from Whitehouse (Yukon), Waterloo (Ontario), Anchorage (Alaska), and St. John’s (Newfoundland).The interior of the box is lined with dark purple velvet and the main body compartment is divided into two compartments, one larger than the other.Inside in the case are two black Dallmeyer (London) lenses, both have tubes and caps that fit over the ends.
