U.S. Pat. Off.”“K P 4947D C-4016”There is a piece of paper glued to the inside of the box lid (c) that contains instructions for the user with the title: “IMPORTANT Balance the Scale Before Using”. The view-left side of the paper contains text in English, and the viewer-right side of the paper contains text in Spanish. The balance scale (a) is mounted on a rectangular, varnished wooden base (measuring 23.0 X 10.0 X 1.5 cm) and has three black, round plastic pads oriented in a triangular fashion on the bottom. The viewer-right side of the inner balance beam contains a semi-circle sticker with a black border and black text that reads: “SOLE IMPORTER INTO CANADA CANADIAN KODAK CO. LIMITED TORONTO”. There are two scale pans (d-e), each measuring 9.0 cm in diameter and containing a small, rounded handle with a hole drilled through the center.There are 6 metal weights (f-k) that have clearly come with the scale set, each engraved with their mass: “2 OZ.”, “1 OZ.”, “1/2 OZ”, “1/4 OZ.”, “50 GR.”, “50 GR.”. The weights are situated within a metal strip that is affixed to the bottom viewer-right side of the wood base. This metal strip contains the engraved text: “KODAK STUDIO SCALE FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC PURPOSES MADE BY EASTMAN KODAK CO. ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S.A.” There are also three other weights (l-n) that were found within the box that do not seem to belong to the scale set, that are labeled “20” “30” “50” with blue ink.

Across the bottom of the viewer-right face of the box, the tan-coloured tape contains the text “PHOTO SCALES” in black marker.The box opens up (by lifting the top face up and back, which allows the front face of the box to open horizontally towards the viewer) to reveal the balance scale inside. These two openable faces are lined with a light-coloured paper on the inside of the box. The inside-top of the box contains text that reads:“REXO LABORATORY SCALE FOR QUICK AND ACCURATE WEIGHING” in black and orange font. Underneath this text, the Burke & James logo appears with the following text: “Burke & James Inc. Manufactures of Rexo Products CHICAGO” in black font. - A travel case made from some hard light-weight black material (possibly metal) with a hinged lid that closes with metal latches on either side of a latched lock. Metal brackets on all of the corners and reinforcing along all edges - wooden runners along the bottom of the case horizontally. There is a leather strap that clips into loops on the short sides of the box as well as a leather travel tag. Attached to the leather strap is a yellow Canadian Pacific Railway travel tag with a piece of string. Throughout the exterior are various travel labels, mostly torn. On the lid is a white rectangular “Canadian Pacific” label that reads “Nicholas Morant, Special Photographer Canadian Pacific Ltd. care CP Transport” in typed text and “Banff Alta” written in black ink above a scratched out typed “Victoria, B.C.” Also on the lid is a piece of masking tape with “LEICA & FILM & ACCESSORIES” written in blue ink possibly by Nick Morant. The interior is lined with beige fabric and both the main body and the interior of the lid are divided into two equal compartments. In one of the body compartments are wooden slats that most likely sit on supports inside each part to create additional compartments at the bottom of the case, but they are not in place. The compartments in the lid are held closed with small pieces of leather that snap onto the front panels which hinge down on strips of brown fabric tape. Inside the case and lid compartments are a Leica camera and various accessories,

The exterior of the case has several torn and scuffed travel labels and stickers, as well as various paper travel tags attached to the lid handle and side brackets with pieces of string. The interior of the case is divided into five separate compartments and is lined in purple velvet - the interior of the lid is also divided into two velvet-lined compartments held closed with hinged doors and leather tabs/snaps. The contents of the case have been divided into six categories:b : camera and alternate lenses. Includes a black and silver Graflex Speed camera with a lens mounted on rails that slides forward and back with soft leather bellows and a viewfinder on top and a leather handle on one side. - Black hard leather carry case with silver corner protectors and tarnished silver buckles and lock. The exterior of the case has remnants of shipping labels (and possibly other stickers) as well as painted red squares (approx. 7.5x6.5 cm) throughout the front and side panels - remnants of some large red label remains on the lid. The side opposite the handle has 2 (two) parallel pieces of wood nailed on horizontally. The handle is wrapped entirely in black electrical tape, leaving the metal hoops exposed - hanging from both metal hoops are the strings and tops of various “CP Rail” shipping tags, as well as a large tag reading “MORANT COLLECTION J-8 ‘Long Takumar Lens for 6x7 work, 600 mm’ 1 of 2” written on it in black ink and attached with a plastic loop.The interior of the case is lined with black paper and contains several pieces of thick white foam along the sides and bottom. NICHOLAS MORANT written in white along the narrow top edge on either side of carrying handle, TR1 written in yellow paint in the top left end of narrow edge and in top right corner of opening side, the torn remains on a Canadian Pacific Railway label remains on the side that does not open. Tripod: Manufacturer mark on metal support below the camera support base reads [D]INEMA EQUIPMENT CO. No manufacturer details available online. Tripod dimensions are 124.1x14.7x14.7 cm. The legs of the tripod are wood, with metal spikes at the bottoms, metal brackets, and a metal camera support rig [possibly cast iron]. - A Candle Lamp for use in a dark room. The foundation of the Candle Lamp consists of a square metal base (a) (8.5 X 8.5 X0.9 cm), which contains a raised circular ring that serves to hold the candle (b) (4.0 cm diameter X 1.0 cm height) in place. Once the lit candle is mounted on the metal base, the collapsible red canvas housing (c) (15.2 X 8.0 X 0.5 cm) is raised around it and another square metal piece (d) (8.7 X 8.8 X0.7 cm) is placed on top. The top piece functions as a chimney and has circular opening in the center, allowing smoke to exit and air to enter the lamp in order to fuel the flame.Centered near the top on one face of the red canvas housing there is black text that reads: “THE KODAK CANDLE LAMP”; “MADE IN U.S.A. BY THE EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY ROCHESTER. N.Y”. At the bottom of this face, on the metal frame, is a silver sticker with a black border and black text that reads: “SOLE(?) DISTRIBUTOR(?)
