Metal transit with 7.5 dia. directional compass. On the face of it is the manufacturer's logo, New York plus directional letters except "N" is a symbol. Transit has many screws and wheels for adjustments. Cast metal cover of large wheel is broken in half. Wood box is completely covered with leather. Inside lid has leather and wood keepers for various instruments - all missing. A 3.0 cm wide belt encircles the box for carrying.

Male electric connector, convex lens for light adjustment, lever at back. Manufacturer's name plate, rosewood handles, one each side (L,R) Top mirror adjustment above lens mount, removeable plate at front. 1000 watt bulb encased in double convex lens, concave mirror cluster, on rotary mount.15,3 square hole in bottom of body.
