- Description
- A tall oak grandfather's clock resting on four clawed feet. The bottom is a panelled hollow box. The middle section of the clock has a hinged bevelled glass door that is rounded at the top with carved leaf decoration and carved leaves at each side near the top. The middle door exposes three heavy brass cylindrical balance weights and a large pendulum. There is a glass door at top that reveals the face in a heavy case with a pointed wooden roof and carved twisted columns at the corners and supporting a railing around the very top. Both doors have locks and keys. The clock has a round etched metal face with brass numerals and a brass plate in the middle with finely wrought black iron hands. There are dials to measure seconds and regulate the chime, and an arch over the face contains two hemispheres, and a painted ship and moon on a moving wheel beneath.
