History / Biographical
William (Bill) Edward Olson (1901-1968) and Elizabeth Olson (1892-1987) were long-time residents of Banff, Alberta, Canada. Bill Olson was employed by the Sanitarium Bottling Company from 1910 to 1913 and was later caretaker of the Banff recreation grounds. Other family members included his parents, Charles Olson (1864-1913) and Martha (Duel) Olson (1880-1970). Bill and Elizabeth's daughter Florence (1923-1981) married the son of another long-time Banff family, Arnold McTrowe (1923-1999). Arnold's father Douglas McTrowe (1878-1950) worked for Jim Brewster in the early 1900s and was later the Barn Boss for the "old government" stables, caretaker of the Buffalo Paddock from 1922-1940, and one of the first drivers for the Banff Volunteer Fire Brigade. The Olson/McTrowe family continues to reside in Banff.
