History / Biographical: This federal government department was known as the Meteorological Service until 1936. Directors were Frederick Stupart, 1894-1929, and J. Patterson, 1929-1946.

Scope & Content: Fonds consists of selections of correspondence between Norman Bethune Sanson (1862-1949) and the Director of the Meteorological Service (later Division), pertaining to meteorological matters, snow surveys and Sulphur Mountain observatory, 1916-1928; Sanson's retirement and pensionary rights, 1932; and Sanson's meteorological research involving old records and care of the observatory, 1934-1942.
