Description
Pin in the shape of a small yarn doll dressed in kilt and playing bagpipes. Wrapped and stitched yarn forms face, hands and legs, with pieces of red plaid ribbon forming the windbag of the bagpipe. Red wool jacket is stitched around edges with gold thread as decoration. Tall black hat and sporran made from bits of white and black yarn; gold safety pin stitched to back acts as clasp for pin. Handwritten on label on side of box is illegible writing, deciphered as, “Bought Glacier/ 1916 Bagpiper”.

(b) 2 brass, 1.0 x 2.1 crown at centre of pebbled surface with smooth. (c) 2 plain brass, 1.0 x 2.1, smooth, slightly domed, ring shank in concave back, one filled with matted woolen threads. (d) 1 silver coloured, 1.0 x 2.6, ornate monogram across, "GVIR", George V Imperator Rex. Hollow with flat brass back and ring shank. (e) 1 brass, 1.1 x 2.6, slightly domed, with relief cross at centre surrounded by circular band, "Honi soit qui mal y pense", and eight points of star around circumference . Hollow, with flat back and shank held through two holes at middle.
