- Description
- Two necklaces of beads of amber. Beads vary in colour from light to dark. (a) with macrame, large, angular, irregular, faceted beads, strung on gold coloured cord which is knotted between series of the beads. Large, 1.9 cm dia. bead hangs from bottom of necklace with large, flat, woven, square knot of the gold cord with three loops around the sides, hanging below. 5.0 cm from middle, on each side is flat, knotted oval of macrame separated by a series of different sized beads. Natural crackle of resin can be seen (b) with carved pendant, long strand of uniform, round, small amber beads, at bottom 2.1 x 2.5 cm trapezoidal pendant of opaque amber is hung supported by triangular ,metal armature in back. Inlaid in 1.4 cm circle in front of pendant is orange, glassy piece of amber ? which is carved with tiny square-rigged schooner and the words, "Viel Gluck". Six extra beads found loose and threaded on loop tied to necklace.

- A square, nicely constructed, little wood box filled with party favors of metal charms in the shape of card suits; box of lightweight wood with short, black woven tape handles through slits horizontally in two opposite sides of the box; one other side of box has paper label pasted across and around one corner with Japanese writing; bottom has round stamped mark in one corner along with brushed Japanese characters; small squares of paper cover tape handle-ends on inside; contains twenty-four sets of card suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades) cut out of aluminum (2.0 cm) with a metal ring through the end of each, twisted together in groups of four with a piece of fabric covered wire.

Green domed metal shade is aluminum colour inside, and clamps over socket shell by means of circular brass clip device which is riveted to lamp shade through a hole in its side, and is "patented May 10,98" by "Faries Mfg. Co. Decatur, Ill.". Yellow cloth covered power cord is two wires twisted together exiting near the bottom of the shaft, and attached to a round, brown, two-prong outlet plug. Base bottom covered with green felt to prevent scratching.

- A large, folding, four-paneled screen with painted lake scene one side, patterned gauze material the other. Scene, painted on canvas with water based pigments, covers entire screen from side to side and top to bottom, tranquil lake with small sailboats and thatch-covered hut in the background, three white herons and water lilies in the foreground beside a tall stand of white orchid-like flowers and spikey leaves filling the whole right panel and half of the next panel. Back is covered with green gauze material printed with a stippled white background around silhouettes of large flowers, traces of faded red define some of the petals within the flowers. Screen is hinged by means of the canvas and backing fabric continuing from one panel to the next, and folds in accordion fashion. Screen framed along sides and bottom and top with wood which has been finished with reddish paint and graining technique, outer corners trimmed and protected with short strips of thin, embossed sheet metal, with flower blossom shaped tacks evenly spaced along the edge. Left side has additional strip in the middle. Each screen panel has wooden skeleton frame beneath fabric consisting of a single upright with cross braces down its length. Back of skeleton frame beneath gauze covered with black paper, beneath canvas with brown paper.
