- A sturdy, oval, cardboard hatbox with a cover in gold with black flecks, and red printing around the rim ”Dobbs Fifth Avenue New York”, the first letter in each word is in red and the rest of the word is in black. The box has a Fifth Avenue street scene with shops in the background, one of which is “FIFTH AVENUE STYLES Dobbs & Co, Dobbs & Co. Inside there is a cardboard hat form and white and red paper sticker “PACKED BY”.

Faded writing visible, illegible. Fragmentary text suggests that it once read: “L. J. APPLEGATH & SON Cor, Yonge and Richmond Streets Toronto, Ont.”
