- This oil sketch is a composition of several different full and half sketches of Bighorn Sheep. The top left corner has a full painted ram resting on the ground. As you move to the right of the image the rams become more like sketches or line drawings with the exception of one that is fully painted in the upper right corner. The bottom half of the image space has many partial and unfinished drawings of the Bighorn Sheep.

- In a patch of yellow and brown trees and grass in the foreground are two bighorn sheep eating, they are located on the left side of the painting. Behind the yellow trees is a mid section of green trees and behind that a small area of trees in the distance that are a blue colour. Behind all the trees is a mountain blue in colour with some snow on its peaks. The sky above is blue with white clouds.

- On the left side of this painting you can see three bighorn sheep in the center area. One sheep is closer then the rest and is looking straight at the viewer of the painting. The other two sheep are back further and are also looking in the same direction. All three of these animals are standing on rock and the ground is rough. The rock gets higher as it moves to the right of the painting and a tree grows from the ground at the very point the rock touches the right side picture frame. In the distance are mountains with snow covered peaks. The colour of the mountains and snow is a purple, blue hue. All three of the bighorn sheep have full, rounded horns.
