Description
A small painted totem pole carved from wood with three stacked figures surmounted by a bald eagle on wire legs with outspread wings. The bottom is a black fish head with large green eyes, a human face inside its open mouth, and a pointed fin protruding from its back with grimacing faces painted on either side. Next, a blue monkey-like face grinning, standing on its hands with its body arched backwards and red feet, looking almost like bird heads, resting on the monkey’s head, with small green frogs on either side in the arch formed by the body. Next, a black outlined animal face with splayed cowrie shell teeth, two round nostrils, and green eyes at the top of its head. The eagle standing on top has a white head, black body, and feather texture painted on its wings. A hole is drilled in the bottom to fit over a dowel in the top of the newel post at the landing of the staircase in the living room. The totem can be turned on this dowel.
