- A collection of four stumps used to smudge charcoal drawings. Each stump has a tightly rolled cigar shape with a blunt point at each end. Three stumps (a-c) are made of soft grey paper and one (d) is made of soft leather with a red paper wrapping at the middle.

Jun 26/77)”; e) one automatic pencil (9.0 x 0.6 cm) with a black plastic sheath with piece at the end which turns to adjust the length of lead through a small hole in molded plastic point; marked “Pat Aug 10, 1853, A Days”; f) one automatic pencil (14.5 X 0.6) with a very plain bone handle with metal tip with hole at the end; tip unscrews to reveal jaws which hold pencil lead; g) one silverpoint pencil (?)
