- A cutlass with wooden handle and scabbard trimmed with brass. (a) cutlass, knife with short thick curved blade inlaid with ornate silver organic and geometric pattern on one side. Thick brass S-shaped guard at hilt, handle of dark brown wood with inlaid brass diamond shape on either side, and turned brass cap at ends with floral medallion at tip. (b) scabbard, slightly curved wooden scabbard shaped to fit blade. Wide brass band at mouth has moth shaped plaque, with incised features, standing out from one side. Tip covered with wide brass band and small knob at end. Single narrow brass band girds middle of scabbard, with indication on wood that there may have been another band at one time .

- A small narrow sword with wooden scabbard and handle shaped like angular dragon's head. (a) sword, small with thin, narrow, sharply pointed blade, of one piece with handle which is shaped like angular dragon head on long neck. Blade is inlaid with strips of bronze on each side and along spine with incised geometric designs, and a double notch cut into spine on each side near the middle. Handle is overlaid with bronze strips into which designs and features of dragon have been cut. (b) scabbard, made of two pieces of wood shaped to fit the blade and held together with five metal strips around the outside, evenly spaced along length, one strap missing. Front side completely carved with intricate geometric design and small slit carved out near top through which is tied a leather thong.

- A Japanese samurai sword with black cord handle and black scabbard. (a) sword, long curved steel blade connected at hilt with brass to wooden handle covered with white pebbly sharkskin which shows through diamond shapes left open under silk cord which wraps handle. Metal band at base of hilt and metal cap at its end have relief casting of leaves and blossoms, and a bronze casting of blossoms is caught under black cord wrapping handle, oval sword guard has cut out relief of branches and blossoms, with holes on either side large enough to allow dirk to pass through. (b) dirk, long thin blade set into brass handle with cast relief of heron standing in stream with incised bushes around. Japanese calligraphy on other side of handle. (c) scabbard, slightly curved to fit blade. Wood covered with fine grained leather with narrow black band, horn? at mouth and another at top of slit pocket where dirk slides in. Pocket groove on one side near top to accommodate dirk, and semi-circular black piece of carved horn on opposite side, threaded through with flat braided black silk cord to tie scabbard to belt

- Long narrow bayonet with four edges, cross-section shape of cross, tapering to point. Base of bayonet formed into elbow which is joined to metal tube to fit over barrel of rifle. Spiral slit in tube fits over sight on rifle and twists to secure bayonet in place, metal clamp on tube to tighten.

- A pair of long bayonets with ridged brass handles and steel scabbards. (a,b) bayonets, long narrow steel blade with slight reverse curve, set into solid brass handle with ridges around the handgrip. Deep wide groove along length either side of blade. Sword guard like crossbar of a 'T' of steel curling down on under side, with circular hole on upper side to accommodate barrel of rifle. Slot on upper side of handle along length to slide barrel in and support bayonet. Marks: (a) engraved atop blade, "Culle Fevrier 1872", serial no., "T60071" (b) engraved atop blade, "Lt. Etienne Juin 1871", serial no., "L78693". Scabbards, steel, formed to fit the shape of the blades, with round knob at tip and small square loop of steel for belt soldered near mouth of each. Marks: near mouth opposite loop, serial no. "X77249", near mouth opposite loop, serial no. "S5181", and "*" and "F".

Blade guard, cast of brass with raised curlicue design, turns upward at sides, handle tip of cast brass with similar design and small lug with hole through at one side Note: blade guard loose; wooden handle cracked along length; blade pitted. (b) scabbard, narrow and straight, made of two pieces of wood held together by two rings of heavy cast brass with raised floral motifs, becoming oval medallions on one side with cast relief of dragon like figures. Cast brass bands at mouth and tip repeat dragon floral motif of other two bands and have floral motif cut through exposing pebbly stone inlay in wood. (a) dirk, short, narrow, pointed steel blade with reverse curve to sharp shoulder on under side of hilt. Small carved ebony handle shaped like a rifle butt, with carved band of scallops and diamond shapes around middle. Two decorative notches carved across butt of handle. Note: handle checked along length. (b) scabbard, small, simple and straight, carved of two pieces of wood with triangular opening at mouth. Top carved to curve downward on one side to accommodate shoulder of blade. Girded with four double bands of finely braided cord, evenly spaced along length, and a fifth triple band at top beneath shoulder. Note: top fibre hands loose and slide up and down.

- Kris with carved light coloured wooden handle, collar of pink stones between it and blade, and wooden scabbard of light colour with dark splotches and large organic cover for sword guard. (a) kris, long, narrow, pointed, double edged blade flaring out at shoulders which have ornate, lacy edges and deep double groove incised on either side of blade. Handle is an angular, carved block of wood with a wide band of ebony girding its middle. Small brass ring set in with round pink stones jade? at junction between blade and handle. (b) scabbard, carved of light coloured wood with dark patches. Straight, wide, and rounded at tip with large, flat, rounded crosspiece at mouth. Opening elongated at one end to accept wide shoulder of blade, and crosspiece slightly carved to accentuate shape. Dark splotches of heartwood form organic patterns on the lighter wood of the scabbard.
