Description
View of distant mountains beyond the remains of a old tree. In the right foreground are two segments of the root system (?) of a tree which curve towards the upper righthand corner. The wood is coloured in greys (blue-grey, violet-grey, and tan-grey, with an underpainting of brown). Three windblown evergreen trees stand just beyond the roots. In the middleground are light green hills. Across the background are sketched the silhouettes of light blue-grey mountains. The sky is light blue with light tan clouds. A streak of grey paint mars the sky near the upper right corner.

Description
View of the foothills of mountains. The foreground slopes downwards towards a valley in the middleground. The valley slopes are covered in green, ochre and pale red-brown grass, as well as, patches of dark green and black trees. On the valley's floor are indications of green and brown fields-small touches of blue and white in the valley (near the middle of the picture) may be buildings. Just beyond the fields are triangular hills which separate the valley from the plain in the distance. The right side of these hills are emphasized by the dark patches of forest. In the far distance are medium blue-grey mountains. The sky is light blue and is divided in half by a line of very pale white clouds with some pink blended in.
