Description
Totally bamboo, almost square-topped stool with four bamboo corner legs. Double bamboo frame near base and triple bamboo frame at top are cut out to shape and stretch around corner legs. Each stalk which stretches as above is a single bamboo stalk having two ends which are pegged together. Pegging through legs supports stretch frame. Vertical pegs through top three frames extend into holes drilled in seat top, which is a varnished, darker bamboo. Seat top secured with pegs and glue but glue and bamboo have dried with climate and one of four seat top edges is loose.

Description
A heavy, dark-stained oak rectangular stool of chair height with four legs linked at the base by low stretchers. Top surface is flat and table-like with quarter-round detail carved along the edges. Legs at each corner are squared at top and bottom and lathe-turned in the middle with a design of tall arches carved into the spool-like area. Legs are straight along the lengthwise sides, and slightly splayed along the width, joined together low along the bottom with squared stretchers. Apron along the width carved with a deep groove at the bottom which is straight. Apron along the length has scroll-carved bottom with two deep grooves carved just above. Top joined to aprons by heavy steel angle-irons screwed to underside and with other end stuck into slits cut horizontally into back of apron. Metal button gliders on bottom of legs. Marks: Charred into underside of top is oval logo containing “FB Co” with banner beneath “1931”.
