Description
Eleven aluminum Goody hair clips in two styles: six are wave clips - slightly curved with two rows of interlocking teeth designed to pinch ridges of hair into finger waves. The other five are dry-fast end curlers - hollow round clips with holes throughout and an overlapping wire designed to be rolled into a lock of hair that is held in place by the wire, the hollow design allows air to access the inside of the rolled hair so it dries faster. Finger waves and tightly curled short hair was an extremely popular style during the 1920s and into the 1930s, prior to the Great Depression. Hair would usually be treated with a curling chemical agent beforehand so that the style would hold once the clips were removed, as hairspray hadn’t been invented yet. A hallmark feature of finger waves is that the style is achieved without the use of heated curling irons.
