Description
Warning: This item contains asbestos - do not handle. Small metal clothes iron made up of three parts: a base plate with ventilation holes, a solid metal iron that would be heated, and a metal hood with a wooden handle and a spring-loaded lever that latches on to the solid iron. The iron has “ASBESTOS SAD IRON” molded throughout the top. Asbestos Sad Irons were produced from the late 1800s until electric steam irons gained popularity. The sold metal iron would be heated over a fire or stove and then picked up by placing the hood over it - the hood was lined with asbestos and also provided a small air pocket between the hot metal and the handle, making it slightly cooler and easier to handle.

Description
Round box of one dozen B Size Prana Sparklet Bulbs with manufacturer details embossed throughout the lid except for where a thin pale blue paper adhesive label with directions of use bisects the lid - this label wraps around to the bottom of the box, but has been torn at both ends, allowing access to the contents. The bulbs are small rounded oblongs with a short spout at one end arranged in a circle with the spouts pointing to the middle. Sparklet bulbs were used in liquid aerators [or syphons], such as those for soda water. Containing compressed carbon dioxide, the bulbs would be inserted into the spout of the syphon so that the seal is compressed and the gas is activated - once the hiss of the gas was heard, the bottle would be shaken, held still for a moment, and then the handle was pressed to release a stream of carbonated soda.
