A solid, rectangular, silver brooch with engraving of Haida dogfish design. Profile of stylized dogfish face with typical eye and open mouth at lower left corner, flowing into fish shaped body along bottom, up opposite side and around top, ending in a tail with typical ovoid Haida designs. Background of textured crosshatching against smoothness of figure. Edge framed with smooth, narrow border. Hinged pin fastens into locking clasp horizontally across. Engraved on back: “HAIDA ART/ Reid”.

Description
A simple, plain, green jade heart on a thick, double link gold chain. Heart is mottled with whitish colour, and very simply shaped with rounded edges and not a definitely defined cleavage. Small ring pierced with hole carved at cleavage, with loose gold ring through hole. Chain is lush and thick, with ornate clasp at front which forms bar from which pendant hangs. Bar clasp is ornate, cast gold, elliptic shape with ring at each end attached to short hexagonal sleeve which holds end of chain. Small ring soldered at middle of bar holds end of chain. Small ring soldered at middle of bar holds latching ring clasp which is fastened through ring of pendant. Clasp in bar operated by pressing together small tab and ring at one side, and pulling a short pressure bar out.
