Description
A black and white landscape drawing. A glacier in the background in the centre of the drawing dominates the picture. At the top of the drawing the sky with clouds and the top of the mountain can be seen. Then there is the glacier which starts just below the mountain peaks and flows down to nearly the bottom of the picture. In the foreground, framing on the glacier, are pine trees, one on the right and three or so on the left. The artist signature is at the bottom in the centre, “f. brandtner”. Au verso, at the top written in black ink, “FRitz Brandtner (sic)” and to the right at the top is a sticker with black print, “LEVIS FINE ART AUCTIONS & APPRAISALS A DIVISION OF ARTBANK INC Tel: 403-541-9099 www.levisauctions.com”. In the centre there is a black stamp, “KASTEL GALLERY INC. 1366 GREENE AVE. WESTMOUNT - QUE. TEL: 933-8735”. At the bottom in the centre is white sticker with blue print, “Cadre d’Art L.C. Inc. Art Frame L.C. Inc. 10 395, Armand Lavergne Montreal-Nord (Quebec) H1H 3N8 Tel. : (514) 321-3916 Fax : (514) 321-4517”. Hanging off the backing wire is a large tag with a white label with black print, “Lot 010 F.W.[Fritz] Brandtner Angel Glacier, Mt. Edith Cavell 17135 $1,200/1,500”.
