Description: A Scottish Highland gathering taking place on the grounds of the Banff Springs Hotel. In the foreground are men in traditional Scottish dress. To the left of the image is a bagpiper. In the background on the right side of the image is the Banff Springs Hotel. A crowd is gathered at the edge of an open space where the men in kilts are standing. Mount Rundle rises up behind the Hotel. A flagpole, trees and coloured tents are dispersed through the crowd in the middle of the painting.

Dimensions: 25.4 x 30.3 cm

Description: The great rock formation juts out of the lime coloured grass in the middle centre. Some large blue green evergreens create a natural barrier between the foreground and background. A smeared array of greens implies a deep forest beyond the rise in the foreground. The blue mountains stretch across the horizon line. Pale blue sky with low lying cloud cover dominates the top 1/3 of the sketch.

Description: General colours: brown, green, purple and red. Central image is a log cabin coming out from left side. The front door is framed on either side by colourful hanging clothes and Aivo chairs, one on each side. In the background to the right is another cabin. Behind and above are trees, a patch of grey sky in the upper right corner and a purple mountain face in the upper left.The painting was originally given by the artist, to Syd Graves (who managed Lake O’Hara for many years). It was then given to Bill Brewster, who gave it to Rita Crick, who gave it to the Peter Whyte Gallery.
