- A landscape oil painting. In the background is a blue sky with big fluffy white clouds and a mountain range with rolling hills in front. After the hills is a line of forest and in the foreground are two small ponds separated by a thin strip of land with tall grass and the ponds are surrounded by a lone, green pine tree on the left and three golden-leaved poplar trees on the right. The artist signature is painted in the bottom rhc in red, “DUNCAN /81”. Au verso, on the top edge of the canvas in black pen is written, “EARLY AUTUMN, MORLEY, ALBERTA”. On the top left corner of the canvas is written, “2500.00”. In the centre at the bottom of the frame is a white label with blue ink, “Gainsborough Galleries (1974) Ltd. In the background far in the distance and on a lower level there is a fast running body of water. Around this body of water are large bush like trees.

- The first half of the painting starting from the bottom includes a stream with rocks off to the right with trees and shrubs all around full in fall orange and yellow colours. Standing to the right of the stream in the orange grass area are three horses, two are dark brown and the other is a lighter brown. Just behind the orange trees are many green trees off in the distance and behind them are mountains covered in snow and blue in colour. The sky is a cool even blue.
