Description
A pen and ink drawing. The drawing is a quick sketch of a mountain peak. The outline of the mountain is drawn with a black pen. The background is a dark, blue ink wash and there is black ink used to accent the mountain. There is a brownish looking wash at the bottom of the mountain that was done with coffee. At the bottom of the paper on the left in black ink is written, “for Dan McCowan” and underneath is the artist signature, “Montreal” and what seems to be the date but is illegible. Accompanying the drawing is a piece of paper with a description of the story behind the drawing (see narrative). Under the black type describing the back story is a red ink stamp that reads, “NICHOLAS MORANT BOX 1288 BANFF, ALBERTA CANADA”. Au verso there is about a 1 cm border of glue that has paper on it, as though the paper was taken off something it was glued to. In the top left corner, in black print is “Mr. Dan McCowan.” and in the right top corner are a bunch of measurements written in pencil, 3 1/2 + 3 3/4, 2, 2 1/2, 5 1/2 + 8 1/4. In the middle of the paper is what looks like a stamp of a quill pen in dark blue ink and below that in dark blue print is “P.E.N. THE WORLD ASSOCIATION OF WRITERS - FRATERNITE INTERNATIONALE D’AUTEURS Centre de MONTREAL Centre Canada”.
