Description
Five identical Santas with pine cone bodies, lined up in a row. Each Santa stands on a white cardboard disc placed side by side on a rectangular green cardboard base. Each figure has black pipe cleaner feet, red pipe cleaner hands, a red felt toque with gold loop for hanging attached, white pipe cleaner beard, and each carries a little green Christmas tree. The noses are of red tear drop shaped plastic and the eyes are drawn in black ink.

Description
Three French Canadian carved figures in wood, hand painted. (a) a bespectacled priest in brown cassock and robes, small black skull cap bent wire pince-nez glasses, belt and crucifix painted on, carrying an open Bible which has been glued to his hands. (b) a bent backed, bowlegged older man, wearing brown pants, black jacket over red vest and white shirt with black tie, a black toque on his head, black shoes, a sour expression on his face. (c) a rotund older woman wearing brown dress with full skirt, black hemmed, a calf-length apron of black with blue and red vertical stripes, a white blouse visible at the bodice, and a necklace of roses. She is white haired, hair tied in a bun, and has a smiling expression, arms crossed. All are cut in deft, sure, simple wood carver's strokes, are caricatured slightly, and are strongly painted.

Description
Case is in six segments held together cord. Cord extends through holes on either extremity of rim edge and extends about 6 inches , 15 cm. to netsuke. On one face of case gold ground, mask and fan and a black lacquer bundle. Obverse has gold ground including sashes and black mask and gold and black striped cap. Embossed signature on bottom of inro. Toggle of brass filigree between inro and netsuke acts as a slide to tighten cord. Netsuke is an elderly, stooped man with long beard, wearing a mask. Mask and feet made of ivory but right foot is missing. Kimono gold and orange lacquer with hood of gold and black lacquer stripes. Ivory head loosening.

Two ivory figures, man and woman. Seated woman has bowl between knees and is displaying open book. Her back is turned to standing man who appears to be directing to something over his left shoulder, his right index finger pointing over shoulder. Two cord holes in bottom and signed under woman's right knee. Design has been incised with fine markings, and paint on man's hat band and on kimono ties on his back. Detail on base of netsuke very good.

Signature on belly deep brown tone to ivory, may have been stained. Opening for cord passage behind rider's right heel and dragon's belly.
