Description: View of a lightly wooded field with a large blue mountain in the lefthand background. The foreground contains a grass-covered field (coloured in tans, ochre, red-brown and grey-brown) with trees scattered about. The foliage of the trees is coloured yellow, ochre and red-brown. Four of the tallest trees fill the righthand side of the picture. A small figure (clothed in black) sits sketching near the lower left corner. (The paint in this corner is in bad condition.) The large background mountain is coloured medium blue at the top, with lower slopes of green. Areas of loose rock are sketched in near the centre of the mountain; These small areas are brown-grey with touches of orange indicating (larch?) trees. The sky is light blue.
