- Gilbert M. Atkin, 1877-1969, came to Banff in 1905 shortly after completion of postgraduate studies in medicine. He first worked with Dr. Brett and continued to practice medicine in Banff, where he raised his family. During the First World War, Atkin served in the Canadian Army Medical Corps.

- History / Biographical
- Ella Maud [Woodworth] Kidney (1894-1977) was born in Banff as the fourth of 11 siblings. Her parents were Benjamin Woodworth and Elizabeth [McIntire] Woodworth. Growing up, Maud worked briefly for the Alberta Hotel and the Bottling Works company in Banff. Maud was married to John A. MacAulay in 1917, and widowed later that year. Her twin sons, John A. [Jack] and Thomas A. [Ted] MacAulay, were born in 1918. Maud married Forest H. "Pop" Kidney (1889-1979) on February 14, 1923, and the new family settled into the Kidney home on Wolf and Muskrat Street. The Kidney residence was originally located in Bankhead, but was moved to Banff and sold following the town's closure in 1922. Maud and Forest operated several local businesses including Banff Grocery, Quaker Coffee Shop, Pop's Bakery and Kidney Kabins. The Kidneys were also active in community affairs throughout their lives. Maud Kidney was a long-time member of the Girls' Sunshine Flower Club in Banff [and the club's president for over a decade spanning across the 1940's], as well as the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire [I.O.D.E.] and Rebekah Lodge, and she was matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Banff in 1950. Forest Kidney was involved in the Banff Shriners Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Independent Order of Oddfellows and the Canadian Restaurants Association [CRA], among other groups; in the early 1960's, Forest also served as the President of the Calgary branch of the CRA. Jack and Ted MacAulay grew up together in Banff, where they were involved in Banff's Boy Scouts program and local hockey teams. Jack in particular was an avid hockey player, until an accident in 1940 caused damage to his right eye which kept him from competing. From 1943 to 1945, Jack worked for Boeing Aircraft of Canada Ltd., and in 1946 he was appointed as the Chief Inspector of War Assets for Alberta and the Yukon Territories. Jack married Karin Wallensteen in 1946, and the couple had 6 children together: sons Herb and John, and daughters Karen, Shelley, Jodi and Julie-Ann. Jack served as a coach for the Banff Minor Hockey League for 46 years. Jack also took on several other positions within the Bow Valley community, including working as a volunteer with the Banff Figure Skating Club, a co-founder of the Banff Recreation Board, and a member of the Banff Advisory Council, the Banff Hospital Board and the Banff School Board.

Series IV content pertains to extended family and friends of the Kidneys and the wider Banff community. Includes receipts, log books and financial records, photographs of Kidney Kabins and Quaker Coffee Shop, and receipts for land purchased by Forest Kidney, George Noble and others. Series VI contains commercial postcards collected by the Kidney family. Postcards mostly produced by Byron Harmon, and some by G & W Fear and other photographers, and mostly pertain to Banff and the surrounding area [winter sports, wildlife, Banff Zoo, Banff Avenue, scenic views and mountain landscapes, etc].

- File pertains to 22 hand-written letters written by Catharine Robb Whyte to her mother, Edith Morse Robb from February 1 to May 18, 1934. Topics include leaving Honolulu for Tokyo via the Canadian Pacific Steamer "Empress of Japan" in late March, life aboard ship, comments and descriptions of the ship and other passengers, weather, books Pete and Catharine are reading, arriving in Tokyo, extensive details of most everything Catharine comes into contact with [this was her first visit to Japan and drew a lot from her grandfather's experiences - it was not Pete's first visit], meeting their guide Mr Miyaoka, going to art shows and museums, local cuisine, architecture, music and entertainment, sightseeing, visiting temples and gardens, shopping, sketching, taking Japanese painting lessons, photography and cameras, going for walks [both during the day and at night], going to the movies [also includes comparisons to Hollywood movies], visiting Nikko for a few days in mid-April before returning to Tokyo [while in Nikko Pete and Catharine watched a local festival, although she does not say what the festival was for], dinner parties, leaving Tokyo for Kyoto in late April, descriptions of the trip and countryside from the train, comments on Japanese naval and military activities, their time spent in Kozu on the way to Kyoto, the trains they travelled in and other travellers, farms, the various towns and villages passed [mostly comments on the train stations], Pete's day trip to Kobe to meet with a friend he'd met in Banff, planning the next leg of their trip, touring around the Kyoto area, visiting local landmarks [including gardens, temples/shrines, and factories/specialty shops], making day trips to nearby landmarks and towns [most notably Nara to see the tame deer and to the Imperial Palace], Pete developing films [photographs] in hotel room bathrooms, events and people in Concord and in Banff, going to Kobe for a few days before returning to Kyoto in early May, leaving Japan for China on the M.S. Choko Maru in mid-May, and arriving in Tientsin China.

- Please note: language and attitudes pertaining to Asian people [especially Chinese and Japanese] used throughout is outdated offensive. Most letters are written on hotel/ship letterhead. Most letters have been numbered in red pencil in the upper margin for an unknown project. Some letters are marked with a small x in pencil, indicating where Jon Whyte made notes for use in his project "Catharine Robb Whyte, Peter Whyte: Commemorative Portfolio," originally published in 1981. 94 - 13 page 16 contains a sketch of the Fujiya Hotel in Miyanoshita Japan. 94 - 18 is not dated and has had "May 8?" written in pencil at the top - it has been scanned as its own letter, but it may be part of 94 - 17.

- William D. Buck, 1859-1922, was born in England and is thought to have served during the First World War with the 103 Calgary Rifles. Buck was a Sergeant at the Banff and Castle Mountain internment camps, ca.1915-1917, and appears to have accompanied prisoners to a camp at Kapuskasing, Ontario after closure of the Castle Mountain camp in 1917.

- File pertains to a photograph album depicting snapshots of prisoners of war and surroundings taken by Seargent William D. Buck of the Banff, Castle Mountain, and Kapuskasing, ON, internment camps during World War I. Photograph album includes Banff and Kapuskasing River views; Castle and Banff internment camps views of prisoners, guards, facilities, activities, incidents and visit of Duke of Connaught and Princess Patricia; gathering of prisoners at Winnipeg and life at Kapuskasing internment camp; prisoners and Cave and Basin bathing, more Banff camp views and funeral photographs; family portraits, Banff and possible Calgary; and Sergeant Buck. - Frederick Albert Woodworth (August 8, 1895 - April 16, 1916) was the fifth child of eleven, born to parents Elizabeth and Benjamin Woodworth in the town of Banff. Fred Woodworth worked as an electrician in the mines at Bankhead prior to joining the war effort in February 1915. Fred was shot by enemy fire on April 16, 1916 and is now buried in Ypres, Belgium. Fred has a second memorial located in the Woodworth family section of the Banff Town Cemetery.

- File consists of a published guidebook for ice hockey, three menus/programmes for events in Banff, three postcards, three pages of loose poetry, and news clippings/pages from newspapers. Content pertains to a community Christmas dinner event at the King Edward Hotel in Banff; loose poetry, handwritten; postcards sent to Benjamin Sr., Maud and Ethel Woodworth, between 1906 and ca. 1915; a copy of the newsletter "Trench Echo" from the 27th Battalion in Winnipeg from 1915; a dinner banquet menu/programme for the 56th Overseas Battalion dated 1916; a news clipping announcing the marriage of Ted and Minnie Davidson, ca. 1915; two pages of a June 7, 1888 publication of the "National Park Life" newspaper; an invitation to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Ladies Auxiliay Annual Ball 1914; and a news clipping of a memorial article for Frederick Woodworth who was killed in action during World War I.
