Description
An oval-shaped silver metal pin with an enamel circle, halfway down, containing a white cross edged with silver on a red background; the circle is surrounded by a silver coiled rope. On top of the circle is a wreathed ibex reaching almost to the top of pin; on the left side of the ibex head is the word and lettering, “DIPLOM” and on the right side “FUHRER” with “SBV” on the bottom. Two climbing axes are crossed, the middle part hidden by the enamel circle; on the left of the enamel circle is the top of one climbing axe, two coils of climbing ropes, a water bottle, the bottom point of the crossed axe and loops of coiled ropes. It’s the same on the right hand side except it’s a large blade axe head instead of the water bottle. On the back there are two metal looped horizontal pins attached with a simple bent-wire locking system. The pins are attached to the oval base underneath a soldered metal circle stamped with “Huguenin & Freres and Co.” and under this “Le Locle”.

The front of the pin is coated with clear plastic, presumably for protection from the elements as it must be worn when guiding. The back of the pin has two horizontal hinged pins on two separate pin sets with a swivel-locking safety catch for each of the pins. In between the pin sets is a rectangular box with the letter “K” on top and then “KOFEL-BZ”.
