Description
A white rectangular grass linen place mat (probably for use on a tray) with blue stitching around the edge. The mat is embroidered with various colours about one quarter of the way down from the top. The embroidered design is a horizontal line with a pagoda at the centre and figures on each side of the pagoda. There is a figure of a coolie carrying a yoke with a basket and bag on the right hand side, and two figures carrying a closed carriage on the left.

Panels are separated by rust brown panels, 3 cm. wide. Cloth border has a rope sewn in middle to shape the ruffle, mat has rust brown polyester (?) backing. 13cm. of border and backing seam has come unstitched.
