Description
(a) A dark gold-coloured pin contained in its original paper jeweller’s box (b). The round pin has with an outer rim with lettering and an inner circle which is divided into four segments by a pair of crossed skis and an ice axe with a trailing cord. The top section, clockwise, features the embossed head of a moose whose horns extend to the rim of the pin face; a maple leaf, a blue and red enamelled Union Jack; and a bear’s head. The outer rim has a dot on the middle bottom followed by: clockwise, “THE SKI CLUB OF THE”, 3 dots between moose’s horns, “CANADIAN ROCKIES”. A scrolled rim extending from the bottom of the circular pin face about one-third of the circumference has these words in Latin: “PER ARDUA AD MONTES”, roughly translated ‘through difficulties to the mountains’. The back of the pin has a pin set soldered on one-third from the top; one horizontal long-hinged pin rivetted at one end and fastened at the other by a swivel-locking safety clasp. (b) A square (3.8x3.8) red paper box filled with cotton batting. The top of the box has, in gold-coloured engraved script, “Cartier Ltd.” and printed underneath “LONDON”.

Printed on the horizontal bar of the cross, on the back, “BIRKS” and underneath “STERLING”. Two Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire. a) A metal (gold-coloured) and enamel (red, white and blue) pin with a gold, red, and blue crown on top of a scallop-edged circle. Inscribed inside the outer circular edge “IMPERIAL ORDER DAUGHTERS OF THE EMPIRE” in gold lettering. There is a square Union Jack overlaying a white seven-pointed star. Under the Union Jack in the outer circular edge, in the centre, is a small oval the a gold line down the middle and the left side cut in half by another line. Connected by two chains at the top is a gold rectangle inscribed with “PRIMARY LIFE MEMBER” in blue writing. On the back of the rectangle is there is one horizontal hinged pin soldered on the back with a swivel-locking safety clasp on the left side. b) Same metal and enamel pin as a), but instead of an inscription of “IMPERIAL ORDER DAUGHTERS OF THE EMPIRE,” the inscription read “I O D E” right under the gold, red, blue crown. The two pins rest on a piece of green foam.a) “IODE 25 YEARS” gold pin.
