A rural scene in which a man in a blue shirt, brown pants and holding a gun, is standing to the left of a Red River cart. A white horse or ox appears to be pulling the cart. These figures are examined from behind. The cart, man, and animal are in the lower left corner of the image. Along the bottom of the image is a flat prairie area. Several wheel ruts are visible. Across the centre of the image there is a line of trees. Directly above the trees are clouds. At the top of the image there is a clear sky.
