"Why Shoot the Teacher?" 1977, directed by Silvio Narizzano and starring Bud Cort, Samantha Eggar, Kenneth Griffith, and Chris Wiggins. Based on the book of the same name by Max Braithwaite, a newly graduated man from an eastern Canadian city accepts a teaching job in a one-room school house in rural Saskatchewan during the Great Depression. Living in the school house basement, he has a hard time connecting to the town or students, but eventually grows to understand and appreciate those around him, gaining their love and respect in return. Location filming mostly in and around Hanna, Alberta.
