- Description
- A pair of black synthetic skins for skiing. The skins are backed with canvas which has been glued with parts blanket stitched to the velour along the edges and have metal pieces, which are rivetted onto the skins, at each end and two along the length. These were state-of-the-art for the 1960’s early 70’s for Head skis: see cataloguer’s note. The skis would be drilled through and have the rails put onto the skis. They were commonly called “Trima Skins”. The tail end of the skins have black canvas strips that pass through a system (24.0cm long) for adjusting the length and a one-piece loop (4.0x5.6cm wide) of canvas to attach to the ski tip. The back of the skin would have have had a tip ring ring but it has been cut off. On the canvas part of the skins blck ink stamped “225” but crossed out with red felt pen and handwritten “220 Downhills” and across the side also in red felt pen “HANS GMOSER”. Imprinted on each metal plate “P” on top underneath “TRIMA” and on the other side of the groove “DEPOSE”.
