A hand-carved, black soapstone axe head that has a shaft and an axe head carved with a simulated thong that makes the two appear bound together. The piece has two holes: one to put a handle into the shaft; one to put a a handle or shaft in to make a chisel or perhaps to add a decorative touch.

A simple, straight, scabbard of engraved brass with lacquer inlay that is just wide enough to accommodate the wavy blade of the kris (104.05.0023). The scabbard has a carved wooden top at the hilt that is quite wide to accept the wide hilt points of the kris while protecting the wearer.
