- A white paper card with a vertical cutout window that displays a piece of red, white and green cotton weaving on a Christmas theme: a star with patterns surrounding it. The cutout window is rimmed by a gold-coloured border. The paper is folded in three parts. The first piece is folded over and glued; it encases the piece of woven fabric that appears as the vertical shape on the front. The back is glued too, but opens slightly on the bottom to read the printing, viewer’s left, “THE DESIGN ON THIS CARD IS A 19TH CENTURY COVERLET PATTERN CALLED STAR OF BETHLEHEM” On the back printed in pencil “EILEEN HETT” and underneath ”E14-#1 - 83”. On the lhbc manufacturer’s printing “G & S DYE & ACC. ART NO. 2001”

- An off-white paper card with a flying bird-shaped cutout window that displays a piece of woven wool of blue and silver metallic thread weaving. The paper is folded in three parts. The first piece is folded over and glued; it encases the piece of woven fabric that appears as the flying bird shape on the front. When the card is opened, on viewer’s right, there is a printed greeting in blue calligraphy printing “We wish you Peace and Joy this Christmas Eileen & Bob Hett”. On the left hand side of the open card “Dear Mary, Since the fabric for these cards was woven on my “Mary Andrews” loom- and I thought of you all the time I was weaving, I thought I would send off a finished product to wish you a very Merry Christmas. It was lovely seeing you in the fall and the guild is looking forward to your coming in the spring. A very Happy New Year, Eileen” On the back printed in pencil “EILEEN HETT” and underneath ”E14-#3-85” signed lrhc: “EH’86”

Greeting in red calligraphy ink “Merry Christmas” and, signed in blue pen, “Eileen & Bob Hett”. Written on the left hand side of open card “Dear Mary, I hope your year has been a pleasant one. A study group Marg & I belong to is in the process of doing a friendship quilt. We’ve generally been developing our own over-shot (sic) designs by adapting traditional ones. It has been a wonderful exercise - and we’ve certainly learned a lot about overshot borders. Are you still working on your book-marks (sic) for Prince George? As I may have told you our guild is handling the Teachers Exhibition Best wishes for the New Year Eileen” Underneath printed in pencil ”E14- #5 - 87”.
