A detailed sketch of the 1947 Christmas card. Animals join Catharine at the Dutch door of her home where she is serving them some food. On the top edge of drawing is reads “SEASONS GREETINGS” and along the bottom of the page “CATHARINE AND PETER” and “Peter Whyte 47 BANFF.” In the BLC “Catharine” is written.Inside the fold of the paper you can see a simple sketch of the floor plan of their cabin (main level), and inside one room it reads “kitchen.” On the bottom half of the page there is multiple squirrels drawn out. verso: there is a rough sketch of what looks like a landscape, with multiple birds drawn around it.

In the drawing on the top half of the paper there are four figures in a line moving across a landscape with a mountain range infront of them. The drawing in the lower half is broken into three boxes, the first has what looks like Pete’s grandmother going up over a hill with her skis in the air and her poles supporting her, while in the second drawing there is a skier going down a hill, with another at the top behind them, and in the background there is a mountain, and in the the final drawing it is a male figure (potentially Peter) on a set of skis holding poles with Pete’s grandma standing beside him on her own skis with poles looking up at him.

Description

Their poles are up in the air and their bodies are turned, giving the impression that they are trying to turn themselves another direction.
