- A hand-forged piton pounded down and flattened at one end creating a tapered blade or knife, and at the raised end, a hole to fit a ring (missing) through. It was painted red at the raised end but has mostly flaked off. “10” is stamped on one side and “CASSIN” within a partial oval on the other.
