- Description
- Landscape scene of the foothills with a marshy area in the foreground with some tall brown/green grasses in the foreground right. - blue marshy area, then behind yellow/green foothills, a few clouds blowing across the horizon, and blue sky.“Collings was experimenting with floated and mingled colours over wide portions of this painting. The paper was too soft for this technique and ‘rubbed’ in the centre right section. Bright yellow chalk, applied on top of the dry paint, appears from a distance as a sunlight strip which counter-balances large, light hills in the top half of the scene.” -- “Charles John Collings, 1848-1931” Catalogue Raisonne by Linda Heath
