- Description
- Two pencil drawings, enclosed in rectangles and arranged horizontally. Both are plans for chapter title pages. The left scene has a central title of CHAPTER ONE with three horizontal bands underlining it. Non-distinguishable marks appear below the chapter heading, as a means of representing where the text would appear. Above the title is a scene frames by teepees and seated figures on the left and a crowd in cowboy hats on the right. The space between these features has a central figure that faces away from the viewer. The right scene has a central title of CHAPTER TWO with one horizontal band underlining it. Non-distinguishable marks appear below the chapter heading, as a means of representing where the text would appear. Above the title is a scene of three men in uniform. Two of the men are normally scaled, but the third, central figure is scaled so that his head only reaches the hips of the other two men. All are wearing dark trousers, and what appears to be a belted military coats with large buttons. Their pillbox caps sit on the sides of their heads. All stand with perfect posture, but the third miniature figure’s back is to the viewer. Two heads appear at the right and left top corners. both wearing pillbox caps. At the bottom-most edge of the scene is: TWO BURLY SENIOR CLASSMEN - RECRUITOn Victory Bond paper.
