- John Marsh is Professor of Geography at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. Marsh completed his Ph.D. thesis: "Man, Landscape and Recreation in Glacier National Park, British Columbia, 1880 to present," at the University of Calgary, in 1971. He specializes in research on National Parks and conservation and has written extensively on parks, wilderness and recreation. Marsh published "A History of Glacier House and Nakimu Caves, Glacier National Park, British Columbia" (Peterborough: Canadian Recreation Services) in 1979.

- Sound recordings are interviews by John Marsh with Cecil Smith at Salmo, B.C., and Rick Ryckman at Trail, B.C., November 1979, as part of research on the history of Glacier National Park, Glacier House and the Nakimu Caves. Recordings include information on railway operations, personnel, maintenance, accidents, buildings and facilities, landscape, personalities, and events at Glacier, B.C. and the Nakimu Caves, 1917-1930.
