Series consists of five sound recordings pertaining to A Life in the Wild: The Story of Mountain Explorer John Baldwin. Includes interviews of John Baldwin, Helen Soudat, Ed Amann and "Steve".
A Life in the Wild is a biography of John Baldwin written by Chic Scott. The booklet is the Twenty-fifth in the Alpine Club of Canada's Summit Series which recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of exceptional individuals who have, through their achievements as explorers, mountaineers, volunteers, outfitters and storytellers, helped define and shape Canada's unique mountain community.
"Since his teenage years John Baldwin has explored the rugged Coast Mountain Range, climbing 700 peaks, many of them first ascents, and making perhaps one-hundred multi-week, long-distance forays across the icefields and along the ridges of what is one of the last true wilderness areas on earth. Shunning the easy path and forging his own way through some of the roughest geography on the planet. He is a mountaineer and explorer of the first order."

Noel Odell (1890 - 1987) was a geologist and mountaineer. Noel was born and educated in England, and became an avid climber in the United Kingdom, joining the Alpine Club in 1916. Noel is known primarily for his involvement in the 1924 Everest expedition, during which two climbers, Andrew Irvine and George Mallory, died during their summit attempt. In 1936, Noel and fellow climber Bill Tilman summited Nanda Devi in India, which at the time was the highest completed summit in the world.
Noel served with the Royal Engineers in World War I and II, worked as a petroleum and mining consultant, and taught geology at various universities around the world.

This is the story of climbing on Yamnuska, the prominent wall of yellow limestone rising above the Trans Canada Highway between Calgary and Banff. All the tales of adventure are here, from the first pioneering climbs by Hans Gmoser and his companions in the early 1950s to the new routes of today.
Over the years many of the great climbers of the Rockies have been associated with this cliff: Brian Greenwood, Don Vockeroth, Lloyd MacKay, Billy Davidson, Urs Kallen, John Lauchlan, Dave Cheesmond, Jeff Marshall, Steve DeMaio and Andy Genereux. Also included in the book is a guide to the hike up the back side trail to the summit, detailing the flora and fauna you will see along the way.
