I think it is a Stan Arms Co. .44 made in new York around the 1850s would be interested in how close I came. Again Thanks John M” along with “Whitney, .36 Calibre Navy Cap & Ball 1850-60.”

A makers mark is stamped on the bottom - online research shows this image was a popular motif with Grimwades in the mid-1900s as Mr Pickwick was the main character of Charles Dickens’ first novel, “The Pickwick Papers.”
