Margaret Gold Brine, 1898-1985, born in Fort Langley, B.C. was educated at the University of Alberta earning her Master's in languages. She taught at the University of Alberta from 1924 to ca.1928. She married Charles Brine in 1928. Margaret Gold Brine climbed in the Canadian Rockies and the Alps with ascents that included Mount Edmonton, Mount Assiniboine, Mount Robson and Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

The pictures are glued in, mounted on black construction paper. Photographs vary in size including: 12.5 x 9.5 cm, 11 x 6.75 cm, 7 x 11 cm, 7.5 x 6 cm, 8.5 x 14 cm. Images consist of landscape and mountain images, camp images, group shots, climbing images, group image with cairn, . 1 loose photograph inserted 3/4 way through album. Several photographs are lifting. Duplicate images in different sizes between PD- 1 and PD- 2.

Simple stick figurine of a pack horse with a diamond hitch pack. Body formed from a small log, four nails serve as the legs, the 4cm. long neck is a nail bored through the head which is made from a twig section 3.5 x 1 cm. diam. Two eyes represented by two small nails, two ears are also two small nails. The bark from the twig has been shaved at the bottom of the head to suggest the muzzle, an indentation is cut into bottom of head to accommodate the string bridal. The string rein is attached to top of the bulging pack which is fastened with a triple diamond hitch. Two small blocks of wood pack boxes are nailed to the body, one on either side. These blocks are concealed by an unbleached cotton tarp, cotton is stuffed, and bulges unevenly over the securing string. Cinch is fashioned from a piece of insulated copper wire. Strand of thick string nailed to rear for tail. Abrand has been burned into left front: "M" ("M" standing on rocking arch).
