(a) smaller - four pearls alternated with three sapphires, prong fitting holding sapphires quite solid, clasp is simple hook. (b) longer - five sapphires alternating with four pearls. Prong fitting holding sapphires quite open, almost being four legs on which each stone rests. Pearl of uniform size but slightly irregular in shape. Hook clasp has simple locking mechanism.

Filigree follows small, triangular, leaf shape on either side of the sapphires. Solid areas sharply engraved to pick up light and sparkle. Back gold colour. (b) with moonstones, long, oval, clear moonstone 1.6 x .6 at middle, flanked by smaller, clear, round .5 dia. moonstone each side. Halfway along remainder of each side is large .5 dia. blue sapphire. Natural light coloured background with reddish double triangles spaced around in two rows forming a diagonal pattern with a chequered brown and black bar beneath each triangle. A row of single similar triangles beneath complete the diagonal pattern. Base has four small reddish triangles radiating from the centre of the coil, pattern carried through to inside of basket. Note: 4.0 cm piece of top coil broken off and wrapping fraying in places.

A large, rectangular hamper like box (a) with lid (b) made from split natural coloured bark woven around flat strips of wood in a coiled basket manner. Lid fits over a small lip at the top. A small, flexible looped handle is at each side at the top. Edge of lid is laced with split bark, and base is inset with basket resting on slight foot. Imbricated design on front and back consists of a large square worked in black bark with perpendicular lines out from each side, this outlined with white, and then with red bark. The design is repeated in outline with interrupted stitches on lid, each end of the basket contains the outline with interrupted stitches on the lid. Each end of the basket contains the outline of a large diamond shape in black, white and red.

Probably, Japanese calligraphy on label stuck to inside of rim reads "Taikai" "#7".
