Description
Three very delicate papier mache miniature dance masks, each in its own tin protective carrying case a) A white face with painted features outlined with flowing bright green lines and two curved tusks curving upward from the mouth. The face is topped with a tall spired headdress of gold set in with rows and rows of chips of mirrored glass with the white face repeated in diminishing sizes at base of each of the four tiers of the headdress. The headdress has a wire armature set into a plug of wood at its base.b) Similar in design to (a) but with a green face with blue and gold flowing lines, and there are only two tiers of headdress which are of painted carved wood.c) Papier mache mask of an animal head with an open mouth and a group of sharply pointed metal ears on either side of the face. This mask is white with flowing green lines outlining painted features and the inside of the mouth is pink with a pointed pink tongue and a single white glass jewel set into the roof of the mouth. This mask has a bald head with three grooved ridges along its length surrounded by a wreath of gold inset with rows mirrored glass chips. aa-cc) Three tin carrying cases for each of the masks, each cylindrical in shape with conical tops and a flat ring soldered to the top of each for hanging. Each lid has metal straps at the side which latch over protruding lugs on the base. Inside each base is a flat metal disk atop a tall pole over which the mask sits and is supported (one disk is stamped 'Net average 14 oz', obviously from the original container from which these cases were made). Tissue paper inside the cases helps to support the masks.

A Japanese, pink silk parasol with bamboo robs and detachable handle. a Single stalk of bamboo is split lengthwise into many narrow slats to which is attached the large circle of pink, diaphanous silk, painted with three large roses and leaves. Ribs held at top by cap of lacquered black paper. Parasol opens by pushing metal runner up shaft where it is held by spring latch at top. Stretchers are split bamboo, laced and knotted together with white string, and attached to individual ribs at ends. Shaft of carved wood, with natural bamboo handle which unscrews from shaft, remaining attached by metal hinge to fold up against ribs of parasol when stored. Knob at end of handle carved from root end of natural plant. Blue collar around handle attaches blue silk loop and cord with two red balls at end to fasten handle against body of parasol when stored.

Clock works enclosed in round case in back with two keys for winding time and alarm, two knobs for setting, and a loudness lever, alarm stop button on side. Lined with ribbed fabric covered with plastic. Marks: on face, "Tourist, seven jewels, Swiss", on back of clock, "Swiss", on lining cover, "genuine leather". Note: leather frayed and scuffed, clock does not run.( b) red plastic, case has brass coloured, square frame from which hinges the square, plastic framed clock face at the top.. A small, red enamelled, brass trimmed clock which folds into itself to appear to be a flat, tiny, box. Clock case of red enamel trimmed with brass lines and brass rectangular plaque at the centre, with two opposite sides enamelled black. Clock opens by pressing brass, hinge-like button on the side. Lid pops up and central square section revolves so that a small, square clock appears in its place, and the lid section is behind it inside. Lid, framing the clock, is held open by a hinge at the back, and spring controlled by a short chain attached to the pivot pin of the clock. Inside of case is gold coloured "base metal". Clock face is very simple square with gold numerals and hands on white dial. Winding stem at top missing. Manufacturer's name on face. Note: does not run, enamel chipped in one small spot on back, black enamel of side chipping along edges, as is red.
