- Two ivory figures, man and woman. Seated woman has bowl between knees and is displaying open book. Her back is turned to standing man who appears to be directing to something over his left shoulder, his right index finger pointing over shoulder. Two cord holes in bottom and signed under woman's right knee. Design has been incised with fine markings, and paint on man's hat band and on kimono ties on his back. Detail on base of netsuke very good.

These openings are brass rimmed, the brass on one of the two openings is missing (b) is a smooth, elongated dome shape as well with single brass dragonfly on top., only other marking is red E.S.
