- Abstract
- Chic Scott is a man of unconventional firsts. The first Canadian to summit a Himalayan peak, the first Canadian to guide in the European Alps, and he was part of the first team to climb Mount Assiniboine in winter. He is also a local mentor, historian and ski pioneer who has spent his whole life touching the lives of all those who call the Rockies home. Chic is perhaps known best for the ambitious grand ski traverses he achieved; in essence he has broken the trail for an entire generation of adventure skiers who follow. His writing and books have reached mountain communities further afield, spreading the rich history of Canadian mountaineering to outdoor enthusiasts across Canada and around the globe. This booklet celebrates the life of Chic Scott with his most memorable contributions to mountain life and tales told by his close friends. (from Alpine Club of Canada website)

- Abstract
- This collection of original and previously published pieces includes provocative editorial and opinion work about the state of adventure, personal tales from a life of exploration and risk-taking, some touches of humour, and award-winning profiles of some of Canada’s mountaineering greats. Stories include conversations with and profiles of alpine personalities such as Barry Blanchard, Sonnie Trotter, Lena Rowat, Raphael Slawinski, David Jones and many more. Bringing these essays together for the first time has given Geoff the unique opportunity to reflect back on the stories behind the stories, the consequences of their publication, and the sometimes complex processes of writing about adventure and adventurous lives. - Abstract
- Mountains marks a new milestone in Earth observation and Alpine exploration. For the first time, a special recording process and a technique developed at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) allow the satellite recording of three-dimensional views from 300 miles above with a resolution in the range of a few meters. Photorealistic images are created in this manner from perspectives denied even to mountaineers and helicopter pilots. In addition to highly accurate detailed models of individual regions, the DLR generates a global three-dimensional elevation model of Earth in unprecedented quality. For this purpose, two German satellites are currently circling the earth at a speed of more than 15,000 miles per hour—separated by a mere 500 feet. Taken together, both techniques offer a detailed view of a world that still pushes human beings to their limits—the mountainous regions of our planet. For this book Reinhold Messner has selected thirteen peaks and routes to feature, as they’ve never been seen before. (from publisher's website)

- Abstract
- You might know about the oppurtunities for skiing in and around the Narvik and Ofoten area. This is the home of Narvik, Riksgränsen, Björkliden and Abisko. The ski resort of Narvik has the best lift-accessed skiing in Scandinavia, while Riksgränsen, right at the border is an international favourite for spring skiing. Around these ski resorts there is a fantastic mountain landscape with a lot of variation in the character of the ski terrain. Many spectacular mountains are only accessible by ski touring, and this is the definitive guide to those. Ski Touring Around Narvik covers 82 mountains and six traverses in Narvik, Skjomen, Ballangen, Efjorden-Tysfjorden, Bogen-Grovfjorden, Gratangen-Lavangen, Hunddalen, Riksgränsen, Björkliden and Abisko. This comprehensive guidebook is written by Mikael Af Ekenstam, resident of Narvik and experienced mountaineer. When Powder Magazine visited Narvik to write this piece about Scandinavia's most spectacular powder paradise, Mikael served as their guide. Several world class photographers have contributed to the book. Ski Touring Around Narvik describes a wealth of routes in a spectacular landscape for ski enthusiasts on both sides of the Norwegian-Swedish border in Northern Scandinavia. The first edition of this guide book was originally published in 2004 in norwegian as Toppturer rundt Narvik - see the norwegian version here. This new and updated version includes aerial photos and customised maps to supplement the route descriptions. (from Fri Flyt website).

- Abstract
- Summits of My Life is the personal project of Kilian Jornet, in which for five years he has traveled to some of the most important peaks of the planet to try to establish FKT (fastest known time) of ascent and descent of some of the most emblematic mountains of the world. The project is closely linked to values and a way of understanding the purist and minimalist mountain. The experiences lived in each challenge have been captured in different films.
