Description: Barometer in brass casing with brass suspension loop at top. "AJL & Co." over "B" (representing Boston) within oval on casing back. Dial shows pressure range of 26 to 31 inches. Indicators such as "stormy rain change fair very dry". Also "Made in England for Andrew J. LLoyd & Co. Boston". "Aneroid barometer". Blue needle fluctuates with pressure and brass needle is manual needle which can be moved daily and compared with following day's reading. Manual needle movable on face. Screw adjustment on back of barometer adjusts blue needle to local conditions.

Description: Wall type aneroid barometer in a brass casing with three brackets for screw mounting, its range is 710 to 790 millimeters. It’s manufactured for the Phillipine Islands and all the surface information is in Spanish. The longer of the two brass needles under the glass is the pressure indicatior and the shorter of the needles is the setting which can be varied manually for purposes of comparison.

Description: A Chinese gold scale (a) and case (b). a) A scale with a long thin rod made from gibbon bone with a scale marked along its length with small dots. A brass pan is suspended by a black thread through a hole at the blunt end of the rod. There is a single thread at 9.5 cm from the blunt end that acts as a fulcrum to hang the rod. b) A violin-shaped case made of carved bamboo that is hinged with brass at the end of the stem. A braided rattan ring slides down the stem to secure it when closed. There are carved areas insidethe case to fit the pan, rod and weight. The case is marked with a symbol carved into the outside. There is also a red and white paper inside with Chinese characters and “Ex.B Harry Sam” handwritten.

Description: A brass balance scale on a varnished wood base, painted black around the edges, with small wooden button feet. The arms of the scale and an indicator needle balance on a rod through a hole at the apex of triangular shaped legs. One side of the scale is an oval plate for the item to be weighed and the other side is round for counterweights. Four flat round brass weights in various sizes are stamped with thier value (“2 oz”, “1 oz”, “1/2 oz”, and “1/4 oz”) and fit into cut out circles on the base in front of the scale.
