Description: View of the Bow River looking west towards the Bourgeau range. The Bow River fills the foreground and disappears around a bend near the picture's centre. The reflections of trees, mountains and sky have been lightly sketched on the river's surface, with much of the pale beige ground showing through the paint. The river's banks have been outlined in black. A tall group of dark evergreens is located on the righthand bank, near the picture's centre; while a staggered row of trees can be seen in the distance on the left bank. The trees on the left bank are simply indicated by thin vertical brushstrokes of dark green paint. In the background a range of violet mountains can be seen. The mountains appear to recede into the distance since their details are blended rather than distinct.

Description: View of a wooden bridge crossing a stream. In the right foreground is the grassy bank of the stream, coloured light green, blue-green and green-ochre. The stream flows from the lower righthand corner into the background, and disappears under a bridge (near the picture's centre). The right bank of the stream is also covered with brush and grasses. A few evergreens with grey trunks stand at the far right. The bridge is depicted in the same green-greys and violet-greys as these trees. Behind the bridge is a forest of evergreens with black and brown shadows. The background trees by the right end of the bridge are coloured with deep blue. On the right, beyond a gap in the trees, part of a peak can be seen (painted with light browns, violet-grey and dark grey). Above the peak, in the light blue sky, two oblong clouds have been roughly sketched in.

Description: View of Cathedral Mountain. In the right background is the triangular shape of Cathedral Peak, with rock coloured in grey and violet-grey. Snow is coloured light blue. A horizontal range stretches away from the left side of the mountain. The range is separated from the peak by a small glacier and a line of snow extending downwards from it. The grey sky contains part of a white cloud near the glacier. In the foreground is a valley with dark blue (or green) forest and areas of light green grass. There are indications of a blue underpainting for the forests, as well as, violet underpainting for the sky.

Description: View of Cathedral Mountain. The triangular shape of Cathedral Mountain is seen in the background a little to the left of centre. The higher areas of rock are mainly violet-grey, while the lower slopes of loose rock are coloured violet-grey mixed with brick-red and ochre. Snow is blue-grey. A cloud found behind Cathedral Mountain parallels the slope of the mountain's right side, and tapers off on the left side of the peak. A second cloud is found in the upper right corner. A valley can be seen in front of the mountain. The side of the valley sloping down from the right side is much larger than the left side. The valley's sides are covered in green grass and areas of dark brown and dark green forest. The base of the valley is indicated by a thin strip of ochre (with touches of orange and brick-red).
