Mary Belle Rich was a published poet and children's book author. Mary Belle grew up in Buffalo, New York before purchasing a large ranch and moving to Pincher Creek, Alberta in her adult years. Mary Belle's best-known work is her compilation of children's poems, titled "Fairy Tales and Grown-up Talk" (published ca.1913).

William McCartney Davidson (1872-1942) was born in Ontario and worked as a journalist in Toronto before moving to Calgary and purchasing "The Albertan" newspaper in 1902. William published the newspaper for 24 years, before selling the company in 1926. William and his wife, Ethel Heydon (? - 1969), moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1930. Between 1938 and his death in 1942, William wrote a daily editorial article for The Albertan titled "Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday".

Scrapbook consists of newspaper articles from the "Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday" column by W.M. Davidson, November 1938 - April 1939. Scrapbook also contains ten pages of typed notes from the Special General Meeting of the National Federation of Liberal Women of Canada dated early April, 1952.

File pertains to Jean's participation in and accounts of trail rides with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies and Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies. File includes a magazine or newspaper clipping accounting Jean's talk that she gave at the Royal Alexandra Hotel on January 18, 1938 and two copies of the invitation sent to attendees for the talk (one of them has a handwritten message on the back written by Jean); two copies of the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies Bulletin No. 48 (1937), which Jean is featured in and wrote an article for (the first woman to do so); related correspondence between John Murray Gibbon and Jean (1937-1939) regarding writing the article and participating in the trail rides; related correspondence with the Canadian Pacific Association responding to the talk Jean gave; typed notes of Jean's trail rides talk (two drafts, similar with slight changes); a typed poem entitled "The 1937 Trail Ride" written by Jean; and an essay entitled "Boots and Saddles" by Jean.
Notes
John Murray Gibbon was the Secretary-Treasurer for the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies during this time.

Music from these items was likely sung/played on instruments as entertainment during trail rides. Handwritten lyrics dated 1964 were used for "Stunt Night" by Margie Morrow and Cheryl Feller. One of the items was produced by author John Murray Gibbon.

Items were previously stored in two separate files titled "songs" and "songs and poetry", which have been combined into one file. Handwritten lyrics used for stunt night by Margie Morrow and Cheryl Feller [1964], 1953 Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies Song Book, and 3 sets of sheet music by George Jameson were previously filed separately from other items under the new file.
