Appropriate points of the dial indicate “Changeable”, “Fair”, “Very Dry”, “Stormy” and “Rain”. There is an adjustment screw through the wood on the back with a keyhole bracket for hanging. Maroon leather case with green satin velvet lining holds combination altimeter barometer of pocket watch like design. Brass casing and suspension loop. Casing rim ridged for gripping and rotation of altitude dial, inner dial, under crystal, is fixed and indicates barometric pressure in inches of mercury. Instrument is an aneroid barometer and needle varies with changes in atmospheric pressure, whether by change of altitude or change of weather. On dial face are following marks "rain change fair...compensated. Harrison & Co. Montreal, Made in England". On back of instrument casing is screw adjustment to correct for local conditions. Barometric pressure range is 17 to 31, altitude 0 to 16,000 feet.

A blue corduroy cap with a sun visor, the crown divided into six pie-shaped pieces sewn down and meeting at the top with a fabric-covered metal button. The inside has a white net polyester lining sewn down with royal blue strips of polyester fabric and a hard piece of plastic on the inside forehead to support the patch in front. There is machine-embroidered felt-like blue patch (8.8 x 6.5cm wide) heat-applied on the front.
