(MFG: Fitrite).(b) finger pick set (2.5 x 1.8 x 2.0) six metal rings that fit over the finger tips, adjustable band has circles cut out along it, flame shaped fingernail rises from band, curling inward slightly, and with cut out circle at middle. (mfg: National) (c) finger pick (2.5 x 1.9 x 2.0) as (b) but without cut out circles (mfg: Artisto) (d) finger picks (3.0 x 1.7 x 1.9) two metal bands that wrap around finger tip, widening near the end, then narrowing to a point that extends off to one side of the finger. (e) finger picks (3.5 x 1.5 x 1.9) two flat ivory bands which curl once around finger tip and extend out to one side in a point. (f) pick (3.2 x 2.3 x .1) small, flat, egg shaped, marbleized, grey plastic, stiff. (mfg: Durro). (g) pick (3.0 x 2.2 x .1) as (f) but brown tortoise shell coloured plastic (mfg: Eureka). (h) pick (2.7 x 1.9 x .1) as (f) but transparent yellowed plastic ?, slightly curled. (i) capo (5.3 x 1.9 x .9) flat metal bar with small hooks at either end to hold tightly coiled spring across the under side, lined underneath bar with cork. (mfg: Elton). j) bridge ? (4.7 x .8 x 1.1) a long, half round, hollow metal bar with six incised rings spaced evenly along the length. (mfg: Kamiki). (k) slides (7.2 x 1.7 diam) two heavy, solid, brass rods (used to slide over strings when playing the guitar Hawaiian style) (1) peg (5.0 x .9 x 2.3) white, cast plastic peg with long shaft and flattened key with finger depression each side, ferrules around top of shaft. (m) bridge (4.7 x 1.4 x 1.9) low, unfinished wood bridge with small dark support perpendicularly across under middle, short legs thicken slightly at base, series of small notches across top, some deliberately cut into wood, some worn in odd places from strings (mfg: Grover).

A collection of 18 medals belonging to Banff speed skater Stanley Johnson. The medals are pinned on a wood shield covered with faded black velvet. From viewer’s left, the medals are as follows:(a) is silver, round, and measures 2.8cm in diameter. The front has a relief of a head and neck of a Bighorn sheep; a ram with curling horns. Above the ram’s head is the word “BANFF” in raised printing, on the viewer’s left of the ram’s neck “WINTER”, and on the viewer’s right “SPORTS”. Engraved on the back of the medal, at the top, an arced “440 -YD SKATE” under that “1922”. On the bottom an arced “STERLING” and underneath it appears to say “BANFF” but is indiscernible.(b) is gold in the shape of a Maltese cross and measures 3.20cm square. There is a circular medal superimposed on the cross. In the middle is a relief of a speed skater in action; underneath the skater is a laurel wreath. Engraved on the back is “B.W.C.”, under that “SKATING”, under that “220” “SR”, under that “ -1923-” (between the “19” and the “23” is the solder point for the the circle on the front), and under that “1st”. On the bottom of the medal is bar over an “R” and a bar underneath.(c) is a silver medal; a bar pin (3.50cmx1.0 at its widest part), from which, suspended by a red and yellow ribbon looped through a metal ring, is a circular medal measuring 2.90cm in diameter. The bar pin has a scrolled top and a rectangular framed space in which “FIRST PRIZE” is engraved in italics. There is a hinged pin fastened by a metal clasp on the back of the bar pin. The suspended circular medal has a bound wreath of laurel leaves around the rim and inside the circle of leaves these words are engraved in a rimmed circle “EDMONTON - WINTER - CARNIVAL” and inside another rimmed circle in the middle “SENIOR” and underneath “ONE MILE”. On the back, on the top “Won by” is engraved in script and on the bottom “STERLING” and something indiscernable (a hallmark).(d) A gold six-pointed star (3.50cm) interspersed with maple leaves. There is a circlular medal superimposed on the cross. In the middle is a relief of a speed skater in action; underneath the skater is a laurel wreath. On the back “B.W.C., under that “SKATING” under that “880 Sr”, under that something that looks like“ -19 indiscernible-” (between the “19” and the indiscernible is the solder point for the the circle on the front) and under that “1st” underlined and ”-1924--” underlined. On the bottom of the medal is bar over an “R” and a bar underneath.(e) is silver, round, and measures 2.8cm in diameter. The front has a relief of the head and neck of a Bighorn sheep; a ram with curling horns. Above the ram’s head is the word “BANFF” in raised printing, on viewer’s left of the ram’s neck “WINTER” and on viewer’s right “SPORTS”. Engraved on the back of the medal, at the top an arced “ONE MILE SKATE” underneath that “1922” On the bottom an arced “STERLING” and underneath it appears to say “BANFF” but is indiscernible.(f) is gold in the shape of a Maltese cross with four scrolled edges. There is a rimmed circular medal dropped in and soldered. In the middle of the circle is a figure of a speed skater; underneath the skater is a laurel wreath. Engraved on the back “B.W.C.”, under that “SKATING”, under that “1 MILE”, under that something indiscernible (could be a scroll), under that “-1st-”, and under that “1924”. On the bottom of the medal is bar over an “R” and a bar underneath.(g) is gold, only three-quarters is a circle (2.40cm diameter) as there is a scrolled bottom. There is a beaver on top of a shield; engraved on the shield “EDMONTON - WINTER - CARNIVAL” under that “1923”. On both sides of the engraved shield there are maple leaves. Engraved on the back “2nd”, under that arced “SEN. 220YDS RACE”, under that “WON BY”. On the bottom of the medal something that looks like a star in a circle followed by a star (hallmarks).(h) is gold, only three-quarters of the medal is a circle (2.40cm diameter), as there is a scrolled bottom. There is a beaver on top an shield; engraved on the shield “EDMONTON - WINTER - CARNIVAL” under that “1923”. On both sides of the engraved shield there are maple leaves.
